The Panther Tango (1967)
Now someone is having a ball, evidently… (From an ad for rum in LIFE – Nov 3, 1967)
Anyone knows what the Panther Tango at the Plaza in 1928 refers to? It sure can’t be Pantera tanguera by Cuarteto Almagro (on the album Hemisferios)…

The guy at the microphone has a striking resemblance to Peter Sellers, so my guess is the Panther tango was done for one of the Pink Panther movies in the 1960s.
Good observation! Maybe the guys in Cuarteto Almagro weren’t first with the Pink Panther tango after all… I have to admit I never saw any of those movies, although I know the character Inspector Clouseau… Still doesn’t explain the 1928 incident at the Plaza…
